Hi, I am new to this site so hope you can help me. Met my partner an Australian guy over in Aus in March 08, went back March 09 stayed together for 3months. Have corresponded regularly and decided we want to be together in Australia. I am 60 he is 59 so both just want some happiness together. Unsure what visa I need, as to obtain a de-facto I have to live with him for 1 year, as I live in the UK that is not feasible. If I try for a 1 year visa( dont know which one though) and stay with him for that year, when I return home do we then apply for a de-facto visa? I would be financially independant from the Aus. government as I have my own income from the UK. Have spent 5 weeks trying to ask and find out what I need to do but no-one will tell you directly, and all the forms just get me in a muddle. I am so stressed. Please can anyone put me on the right "path". I would appreciate any help available. Thanks x
