Just reading a report in SMH which says the average Aussie has a net worth of around $500,000.

It is not surprising with the way property prices are going and inflation and of course this includes your super-annuation. While Australians are far better off than most countries, I wonder how exactly the average Australian feels.

I'd reckon there would be plenty of battlers out there renting Mike and then younger people who haven't put together a housing deposit who would be saying yeah, yeah, it's just all those landlord types and filthy rich business tycoons who are making up for all us having next to nothing.
And then there would be those in life who have pissed a few hundred thou into the urinal of the local along with maybe abother couple of hundred thou that could have gone up in smoke.

What galls me though is why do we need to get someone in from the US who apparently did not have such a good track record and now are paying him $20M a year to head up Telstra.
