I am new to this forum. Just to introduce myself, my name is Monique and I live and work in Cape Town South Africa and came across this forum on the net.

I have got 2 non perishable fmcg products that could fit into either haberdashery or stationery and I've been surfing the net for days now to try find a distributor in Australia.

I am not sure if anyone here can assist or direct me - ghee that would be so appreciated. If you can then I will be able to give you more details of what exactly I'm looking for.

At the same time if anyone is looking to export into S Africa, I'll gladly assist wherever.

Hi Monique and welcome to the forum.

First of all, I'm not probably going to be a great help to you though I did import some products myself once and that's another story.

But 'fmcg' - I'm completely at a loss and for someone else to help, maybe if you could expand on that.
You should also be aware that a huge percentage of Australia's trade is with Asian countries and it could be with products from there that you will have to compete.

If I have more of an idea of the line of products without you revealing the details if you do not want to, I could offer some ideas - various major store chains etc. - Private message me info if you like.

The way it seems to operate here in Australia from what I can gather is that the larger stores have their own buyers and though they could deal with some wholesalers, I suspect they could also source their products more directly and it could be appropriate stores that you would need to get buyers interested in your products.
