Hello Denise and welcome to the forum, Australia and Melbourne (one of the worlds most livable cities it is claimed, and certainly has a lot going for it).
We could be struggling to help you out Denise, in that it is quite likely that there will not be anybody on the forum with specific experience.
I know that MLC has been established for yonks (a long time if you are unfamiliar with all our slang) but that probably applies to all of them and come to think of it I have a vague recollection of there having been some scandalous teacher or students activity at MLC reported in press a while back and again ain't there scandals abounding everywhere in life!
As to results, I have seen reports each year on what different schools have achieved in respect to numbers at various levels etc., and I'd imagine that the better schools would have no problem in providing that information, and if they do not wish to it could be a good reason to avoid them - the information is probably accessible from the State Education department anyway.
I would reckon that the greatest difficulty you could find is getting your daughter in for private schools of all levels often have waiting lists and it not being unknown in some locations and for some schools that parents sign children up at birth or a very early age.
So maybe you can start to shorter list that way, then ask about results re university entrance levels and then go closest to home.
Good luck with it.
