Favourite pub

What's your favourite pub in Australia?

For me it's the corner hotel in richmond, purely for the beer garden and bands aspect. i guess it's probably more my favourite band venue than pub.

Good site Scorpio and charitable too.
I was in Melbourne last couple of days and had a beer in a couple of city pubs never frequented previously - Mitre Tavern in Bank Place and the Royal Melbourne, Spencer end of Bourke - an old cop shop and lock-up, both great history.

Darwin is blessed with plenty enough drinking places shown here: G'day Pubs :: Hotels in Darwin, Northern Territory and Old Vic thumps and vibrates, especially with Tuesday Night Jelly wrestling.

I'll have to register with the true local

Maybe there's so much free beer provision Mike, he don't know!
But anyway, if you want to go drink somewhere that time has not quite forgotten but the ticking has slowed - an iconic drinking hole - not even a web site, and I'll have to see if I can find a photo - The 1770 Tree Bar, a reference:
Quote:
1770 Headland has the distinction of being one of the few places on the East Coast of Australia, or indeed, in the World, where you can see the Sunrise and Sunset over water in the same location and also hosts the famous "Tree Bar" where you can enjoy an icy cold beer and a gourmet meal while taking in the waterviews of Bustard Bay and Round Hill Creek.
The views from the Headland also take in the dramatic Rocky Outcrops and Pristine White Sands of the Agnes Water Main Beach, drawing your eye along the coastline to Agnes Water Point, home of the Northern-most Surf Break on the East Coast of Australia.
And if you view some shots here: http://www.1770images.com.au/IMAGE-B...PHY/index.html the TreeB is opposite that pointy bit in the estuary, sort of like where the G-string or a nice cleavage ought to be.

no, i just think it's a good cause to get behind. and hey, if i'm going to be online at work procrastinating i might as well do something good with my time. plus my friend won a nintendo wii and a plasma tele for writing reviews, so that's also an incentive.

this review for the townie in newtown, sydney, cracks me up:

Dirty, Dingy and I love it. The Townie is a genre-defining establishment - the archetype of horrible Inner West holes. If you haven't caught yourself in this joint at 3am pashing your best friend's girlfriend's unattractive workmate next to the beer-soaked pool table whilst throwing air-punches to 80s Fleetwood Mac hits, you haven't lived. Well, you heaven't lived in Sydney anyway. A true institution.

funny, cause that's exactly what it's like.

I have just noticed a couple of people coming on here and posting links to True Local in their first or second posts. Usually people who do this are more interested in promoting their business than participating in the forum. I suspect they are from true local or a company hired by news corp to push their site.
