Question Would official Clothes Optional Beaches attract more tourists to Australia?

As a naturist for many years I have seen the steady reduction of Official "Clothes Optional" beach at the same time there has been a big increase in the number of unofficial "Clothes Optional" Beaches.

Australia is way behind the rest of the world when it comes to providing facilities that would attract the worlds millions of nudists downunder.

In some overseas countries, entire holiday villages have been built especially for the nudist community.

So why is it that such an up and coming country like Australia continues to shun this particular group of people?

I reckon Steve that when you start comparing Australia to other countries on the globe, and in this case more Europe than anywhere you do need to get a grip on perspective:

. we're not so far behind the rest of the "world" as a long way from other countries.
. though we're a much larger country than most European ones we have ample areas, and do some searching and Free Beaches Australia Inc and probably not so small in numbers given our population - and that is part of the perspective!

It could possibly be interesting to do a survey on the nudist "villages" in Europe, look at who goes there and the population base to be served, the ethnicity of customers.

. Australia has people with ancestral links to some 200+ countries and that may have something to do with the feasibility for an operator looking at establishing a holiday village here or call it a resort and whether more are needed (purely a business decision) - Australian Nudist Resorts - Google Search

What a lot of people like about Australia, be it nudists, naturalists or whomever is the vast open spaces available for free and no doubt there would be many of the former two who are quite happy in finding relatively unvisited spaces, be it beach or country to get the gear off.

. And don't forget the Slip, Slop, and Slap with Australias high skin cancer rates

Could well be that most Australians see far more of the sun than Europeans in their narural living and just do not get that urge to bare all when the sun pops out.

And what of Pacific and Indian Ocean rim countries?

Perhaps running a holiday resort is hard enough without restricting it to a small segment of the market. Australia is a big country and has a small population, so what might work in the US or Europe could be difficult in Australia. As Wanderer mentioned, the campaigns are trying to get people to cover up, not because of a morale issue, but because of the dangers of skin cancer.
