Don't people read anymore?

Or is everyone too busy surfing the web?

I am currently reading "The God Dellusion", just out of general interest rather than any religious perspective. I have just discovered it's not a good book to read in public unless you want people to start a debate.

I read a lot. Right now I'm reading a book by Nick Hornby, 'A Long Way Down'.

Must admit I used to read a lot more before starting to need glasses, but still do occasionally and tend via the web to read up more on topical event articles, even seeking out different views more than I would have used to.

I bet from your title God Delusion and comment on starting debates, the book is all about questioning religious beliefs!

Wonder if it's harder for authors to make a living these days?

Even before the internet, I always thought that movies kept people from reading books, but the opposite is obviously true. I'll bet sunshine saw 'About a Boy', then saw the book and decided to read it, and then saw something else by Nick Hornby and decided to read that. (I have the right author attached to the right book, don't I?)

If people didn't read at all, the big international chains like Borders would be closing down, not expanding, and Amazon would never have made it. Book sales wouldn't be an important revenue source for new movies, either.

And of course there are all those books about the internet.

I do, though, get a lot of my news from on-line newspapers.

I love to read, but the internet does take up a lot of my time. Still, I manage somehow.

I've been reading some travel literature - I picked up a book called McCarthy's Pub at a flea market and I've just started it.
