Red face Airport scanners to see through clothing

I wonder if these will be introduced in Australia?

Quote:
Security scanners which can see through passengers' clothing and reveal details of their body underneath are being installed in 10 US airports, the US Transportation Security Administration said.

While it allows the security screeners - looking at the images in a separate room - to clearly see the passenger's sexual organs as well as other details of their bodies, the passenger's face is blurred, TSA said in a statement on its website.

People have no idea how graphic the images are," American Civil Liberties Union technology and liberty program director Barry Steinhardt said. The ACLU said in a statement that passengers expecting privacy underneath their clothing "should not be required to display highly personal details of their bodies such as evidence of mastectomies, colostomy appliances, penile implants, catheter tubes and the size of their breasts or genitals as a pre-requisite to boarding a plane."

Well, maybe it could make things a little more safer, but, terrorists are smart nowadays and they can place/hide all sort of stuffs in a very tactical way. Smuggling stuffs still happens in airports... It is very difficult being in an airport nowadays. Security is very tight and it is like having a physical check up with a doctor.

well, I'd agree to say that too Bro!
Thieves are smarters. Smugglers have been living ever since ice age. Why both of these crimes can't be destroyed in civil society ?

No matter how sophisticated they make a device is, a device is still a device with, of course many leakages. It's just a matter of time for thieves & smugglers (a.k.a hackerS) to find its leak and manipulate it for their interestes. My question is, in that case, will the "good boys" reinvent new stuff to upgrade the old, broken system ?

If they have unlimited resources (capital, human-brain capabilities) perhaps they can beat the criminals. but in reality, unfortunately no!

so, why they bother making a new one ? It's just making pleasant passengers become more & more uncomfortable!

Most of time, high technology can be applied to prevent criminals from bad action and rip the evil idea from their brain. But it also can be an assist for crimials or the person who have bad thoughts when it is not implemented legally.
