House prices/areas

Hi

Me and my husband are moving out to australia in a few years, can anybody advise on areas/house prices please. We are looking for quite a bit of land, maybe 3 bedroom. We would like to live in a quiet area but somewhere that is not to far to drive into a city??

Sorry for all the questions but have no idea where to start!!

Thanks

Emma

As to house prices/areas Emma, good news is that prices are dropping of late given higher interest rates biting.
You could check out sites like www.domain.com.au or Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au to get an idea around the nation.

Recent History would have a city/region pricing structure going top down of something like:
Sydney, Melbourne Perth and Darwin, Coastal properties in regional cities, Brisbane, Adelaide Hobart and regional cities.

In looking for what you describe, I'll take quite a bit of land to mean a small/medium acreage and my tips would be places like the Adelaide Hills, Mornington Peninsula or Yarra Valley and surrounding regions of Melbourne, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast hinterlands and if not minding it cooler, somewhere about either Launceston or Hobart in Tasmania.

Wherever you might eventually decide on, just remember that the further you live from work, the less likely of having public transport and that availibility/pricing of fuel is not going to ever get any better.

You might want to narrow your search to at least a city or region. I know it must be pretty difficult to decide on right now, but it could be an idea to try and narrow down your options.

Another thing is that a market can change so much in three years. Sydney is always likely to be expensive. Brisbane and Perth are rising in price fairly quickly.

Cool

Nice to hear prices dropping over there. You wouldn't beleive that where I live in Saskatchewan here in Canada that two years ago some houses cost $80,000 and those same houses are now $150,000

It's unfortunate I didn't have a full time job back then otherwise I'd have purchased back then. Nice to hear prices on houses are actually going down in Australia,

Adelaide

Wanted to ask about SA and Adelaide? what is the best place there to live with a family? I have a baby(8 months),so I'll need something near parks or walking areas and also not far from shops and malls...
Also I was said that mostly people rent appartments without furniture,is that true?
Thanks in advance for your help.
