Evidence Of Citizenship Timeline

Hi,

Well on the 13th April sent a application for evidence of citizenship for my son to the Evidence Processing unit Parramatta in Sydney. Sent as priority mail expecting to be delivered by 15th April. Waited a week then started calling the citizenship contact number but all i was
Told was the application has not yet been entered in the system for processing and to just check bank account to see if the $190 fee has been taken out which means the application has been processed. Called again yesterday friday 29th april still no luck and no fee taken. I dont understand whats taking so long to process evidence of citizenship. In my opinion the 216% increase from last years $60 fee should warrant a more
Efficient and faster service which is another thing thats anoying.

hoping others could share their timeline for an application of Evidence of
Citizenship.
The only document delaying a passport application for
My son.

Hey,
I am in a exactly similar situation as you, Posted off my mail as priority mail and received on the 15th April, Phoned them last week and was told to continuously checked my bank account. At this moment, there is nothing being done yet, and without this I can't apply for his passport.

Hey,

I've recently had news from the citizenship processing department but only after calling up a number of times. One person gave me an email address Parramatta.citizenship@border.gov.au I sent an email and marked urgent in subject field and name of applicant, that was sent 27/4 then on the 30/4 noticed money taken out and 2/5 they replied to my email saying certificate has been granted and will be delivered in the next 7 days by registered post. Not sure if the email speeded up the process because I mentioned it was required for a passport application.
My timeline
15/4 - Paper Application Sent
30/4 - Money Taken Out of my account
2/5 - email Reply from Citizenship officer saying approved 30/4
Just waiting now for it to be delivered.

Hope this helps.

Stevo81 thanks for sharing your experience.

I was shocked when the auspost officer showed me the changes to rules that started on the 1st of april. They will now only accept citizenship certificate as proof of citizenship and will reject all applications without it unless your booking for passport interview was made earlier in march.

I have just mailed mine in via normal post a week ago so emailed them today to see how they would respond. I had thought it would take around a month to complete as I was reading some others that last year they had a long queue, but also possibly due to end of year travel and everyone rushing to do their form 119s.

It seems like the processing time is now 2 weeks and 1 week to mail back.

Quick email reply - apparently once you send form 119 in, they will not be able to provide any status updates, and will process accordingly in the queue. They also do not provide any special fast track service like the one from australia passport office. It's still "7 days from the time the application is allocated to a case" and "7-10 days to arrive by mail".

Hence it seems currently the backlog is a week before they assign the certificate to a case officer and the officer has 7 days to process it.

Since it only takes a few minutes to verify PR status by VEVO system and a couple more to verify the photo and community witness for the child. I reckon there are just too many applications from all over australia flooding their job queue into Sydney.

Thank god the office is in Parramatta Sydney, normal letter time from my friends in parramatta is only around 3 days. But i think for those in Perth it's really gonna be a long wait for SNAIL MAIL which as they say will take up to 10 days.

At more than triple the fees compared to last year, I would expect return express post by auspost at least for completed certificates. Guess the budget deficit in Canberra is really getting out of hand...

Hi All,
I posted the application for evidence (for my 1-month-old son) on 2nd July, it was delivered on 4th Jul as per auspost tracking.
I'm constantly monitoring my credit card for charge to be taken out but not yet.
I called them, but the lady said it was not inputted into the system yet, and I need to allow at least 26 working days (which means more than one calendar month).

My problem is we are going to move and I need to change the postal address for the certificate delivery. For security, I've decided to rent a P.O box, as we are not sure the next address (still negotiating with some landlords).
Does anyone happen to know if we can update the postal address even the application has not been entered into the system? Are they able to note the PO box and change it when they input my application into the system.

Thanks a lot.

Hey Areef,
I lodged my application 21st June..Have seen the payment deducted 20th July.. Now waiting for Certificate to arrive which i guess will take around 9-10days.
The whole process currently takes around 40-45 days due to backlog i guess..
