Is there anyone moving from Belgium to Australia who would like to share experiences on Visa applications, preparations or just general support to each other?

Hi Pandora and welcome to the forum,

Not a lot of Belgium people have been on the forum but that is not to say a few do not come to Australia and you can still get help re visas and other info, most visas being of standard application to all countries and if it is by chance a WHV you're looking at, they are an easy online application.

Have a look at the Visas & Immigration section, and the travel section and you'll find a lot of threads by people and some of the answers may help you or just ask away with your own in those sections.

Quite a few years ago [ before the rise of the internet ] there would be magazines about for travellers and I know of at least one couple that arranged travel together after contact through a magazine.
Some may still do that or through the internet but many also just head off and quickly find travelling buddies which could be people from other countries and so you can get a double cultural dip that way.

Thanks Wanderer for the tips. I'm applying for the Partner Migration Visa. I have posted my progress on the Timeline for Family Visa thread. I regularly check other site for xpats in Belgium (mostly English speaking anyway) to see if anyone is migrating from Belgium to Oz, but they all keep their experiences to themselves. I know I will meet people once I settle there, but it would be nice to go through the waiting period with someone who is going through it from here. When I did my medical, I saw a huge pile of applications on the doctor's desk which needed to be sent to Berlin. He said that he receives two requests a week. I know Berlin is really busy, too.
