Hi all...
Im in real need of some advice as immi.gov.au webite nor the official office is giving me any clear answers!

I am primary holder of 457 visa and almost have it 1year, we've lived here almost 3years and from ireland originally. We're due our baby in 2wks time and I'm stressing a little about:

1.Staus of baby when its born...
2. My maternity leave options afterwards...

I know we are not entitled to any PPL until we are Residents, however I did think the baby would become a Resident seen as it will be born here...?

I am really anxious all of a sudden to become a PR, however... I know its not easiest or quickest thing in the world.
My company doesnt look financially stable and there have been talks in them closing before I return so I may even have to look for a new sponsor sooner rather than later.

Can anyone advise on any of the above or guide me to somebody who can...
Much appreciated...
A little over-anxious heavilly pregnant irish girl... :) XX

Your baby will have an Australian birth certificate but will only have Irish citizenship and will be a 457 visa dependent.

As a 457 holder you are not entitled to

*Baby bonus
*Family tax credits or benefits
*Childcare rebates

As an Irish passport holder you are only entitled to the reciprocal medical arrangements and not Medicare. You baby will be the same.

You also will need an Irish passport for the baby and apply to have the 457 visa included on that passport.

I think for maternity leave you have 12 months (unpaid), with a right to request an additional 12 months.
