It is not a visa that people posting on the forum have asked about too often and without knowing on what you're not satisfied with, there are a few key issues you'd need to be aware of.
1. There's no guarantee for work and the global economic situation is leading to greater unemployment in many areas and whilst the government is attempting to stimulate the economy it may not lead to the employment situation getting any better.
As a new graduate you would also be competing for jobs with Australian university graduates .

2. You would likely need to have your qualifications approved by the Institute of Engineers Australia to have a chance of gaining employment - the IEA contact details you'll find at the end of the Skilled Occupation List [SOL], that being a couple of clicks away from the Immi Professional and Other Skilled Migrants page.

3. To have a permanent residency application approved, the 885/886 you would need to meet the eligibility points requirement as outlined for those visas.

You ought to also have a read of our top sticky thread in this section for there is information there in respect to how the government is looking at application processing priorities.

If you already had employment by that time it should not be a problem

confused with visa (476)

Hi! I read from different internet resources that processing for this visa takes about 6-12 months or even longer, depending on one's situation and the country from which one is applying. But, like spoon_man, I wish to know, in general (if you have any idea regarding this), a more definite time frame for processing given that I came from a "high-risk" country and given that I met all the requirements and can provide the necessary supporting evidence.

Moreover, is it recommendable to use an agent when applying for this? Is it true that an agent can speed up the processing time? I got to talk with one last week and told us that it can be processed within a month or two.

If for example I already got the visa, is it up to me where I decide to go (i.e. the states/provinces I intend to reside temporarily)?

Regarding job applications, I have found a few companies that welcome applicants as long as they have the right to work in Australia. Is it recommendable to apply for jobs (eg for their graduate program that will commence early next year) and indicate that applicants like me have applied for this type of visa while waiting for the visa results (be it approved or deny)?

Sorry for the many inquiries and thanks for anyone who will be able to help me with these many many questions.

I am KONFUSD.

The 476 visa as a non points special situation one would normally be processed quicker than those with pomys assessments which are for PR.

6-12 months could have been a reasonable expectation but then since new processing priorities introduced this year, I'd suggest an email to immi may be your best bet in establishing what the 476 processing situation is - check out top sticky re processing priorities.

The 476 visa is also only for certain courses from certain universities and so you need to have that eligibility for starters and then my own personal view is to take a DIY approach and thoroughly examine all the immi site inforamation and in our second sticky you'll see a link to immi booklets, quite a few posters here indicate some issues with agents.
Agents can not normally speed an application up and would possibly only be an advantage for a complete klutz.

As for employment, the GEC will probably mean shortfall in many career openings and whilst there is nothing to stop you enquiring/applying from overseas pending a visa, I'd suspect employers would look more favourably at those already resident.

And btw, it is better to start a new thread to save any overlapping of enquiries.
