Talking 820 approved! :D ... 2 months 12 days

820 partner visa

Originally quoted as 9 - 13 months processing time as I handed it in end of 2012 (24th - Xmas Eve). Which was during the huge surge before the price change.

Just received my confirmation letter yesterday alongside all my photos and official documents (police certs etc) sent back. Wasn't expecting it whatsoever, didn't plan any sort of overseas travel because of the huge wait times.

A little background information:
  • On-Shore application (came over on a 1 year working holiday visa from UK, gained the 2nd working holiday visa by doing farm work in the outback for 3 months)
  • Met partner early 2010
  • started defacto relationship Dec 2011
  • Sent off fully front loaded application with medicals / police certs on 24/12/2012
  • Visa granted 07/03/2013

I would like to say a big thank you to this forum and its user base as whenever I had doubts, concerns or completely stumped 9/10 I found my answer and good advice here.

I know every application is different but if anybody has any questions or wants to know exactly what my application consisted of, dont hesitate to ask

Cheers

Matt

Wow congratulations!!

My partner and I dropped off our application this morning in Sydney (Parramatta office). We had called earlier in the week to confirm how they wanted it, the people at Immi said just present it how you want and they made us an appointment to go in. Of course the first thing the girl at the Parramatta office said was why didn't you post it, thats their preferred method to receive it!!

Every time we ring Immi we get a different answer for everything, thank God for this forum!!

All the best to you!!

Congratulations!! Enjoy the peace of mind and celebrate together

Ohhh Melbourne office, aye? No, I'm not getting my hopes up... I'm still counting on my 15 months minimum. But it's good to know they do do some of them fast.
