U. S. state police check question please

Hi,

First time here with Partner Immigration question please. My state (Wisconsin) offers both a name-based and fingerprint-based department of justice search for a criminal record. Is it my understanding that Australian Immigration requires a fingerprint-based check from the state as well as the FBI? The booklet info for the U.S. is a little vague on this in my view.

Thank you kindly for any assistance.

Paul

My state check (MA) was just a CORI form that I filled out and mailed in along with a check. No fingerprints. The FBI one was the fingerprints and form as well as the payment.

Hi Paul. It depends where you live. If you live in Australia currently, as I do, you don't need a check from the state you're from. You just need the FBI check which requires fingerprints. If, however, you reside in US at the moment then you also need the state check. As to whether the state one requires fingerprints, I don't know (: Good luck~
