IELTS core for New Soth Wales

HI,
I have just come to know that NWS has its own requirement for immigrants to have IELTS band 7 or 8 in all of 4 modules. Is it true? If anyone can also tell me that does NWS has any other different requiremtns for immigrants. In the form for 175 visa, i don't see anything like that, why they have notmentioned it ther?
Thanks

Salman

Welcome to the forum samnucit and you're talking of different scenarios.
1. Immigration is decided on by the Australian federal governement - Department of Immigration & Citizenship
2. Where the state governements, NSW included get involved is that they have a nomination arrangement in place, ie. if the state has assessed that they have shortages in particular occupations [they in most cases rely on the SOL] you can apply for a state nomination [still no guarantee of a job nor immigration being approved].
3. And if you look at the Visa options for skilled visas, you'll see that there is a 176 visa with eligibility requirements very similar to the 175, main differences being you have to have the state nomination and that then means you only need 100 points instead of 120.

So have a look at the 176 and under eligibility you'll see links to the different states and then you can see for yourself what their own requirements are.

The other advantage of a 176 over a 175 visa is that it'll give a slightly higher processing priority - have a read of Sticky #4 - Ministerial statement and FAQ explains all.

Hi,
Thank you very much for this much detailed reply. i do apreciat.
So i have checke that IELTS 7 band in each is minimum requirement for 176 visa.
Can you please answer my questons.

1. If i go for 175 visa, minimum requiremt is still 6 band in each module.
2. If i am able to have 120 points, i am eligible for applying and if i am granted a visa, i can stay any where in Australia including NWS.
Thanks

Salman

Yep, if you want to do the 175 and you can get 120 points, then you can work anywhere [when you can get a job].

Community language

Hi,
Thanks a lot for all this help. I would also like to know about community language points for 175 Visa. I have my graduation degree while having Urdu language as medium of communication which is a omunity language in Australia. I also have letter from University stating this. Is this proof sufficient to get community language points?

Thanks

Salman
