Question Question on e457 - Health Insurance & Proof of English proficiency

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to get an answer to this for a few days now..I am required to show proof of health insurance as part of my application process for the e457 visa..It says that I should have insurance for the "duration" of the visa..am I supposed to get a policy for 4 years (duration of visa) and pay for all 4 years OR can I just get a monthly policy and show that as evidence that I have insurance?

Also, I studied in the US and got a 4 year degree from there (full time instruction in English). Isn't that sufficient to show my proficiency in English? I dont think I need to take the IELTS. So, in this case, can I just scan my degree certificate and transcripts and attach it to my application?

I would appreciate any help/advice/tips anyone can give me on these matters as well as the process in general!

Thanks everyone, in advance.
Sincerely,
Sri

Though most health insurance companies do have premiums shown as a per week ammount, normal thing is to pay monthly, or for longer periods of quarterly or annually for a small discount.

For the application and a need to have health insurance a letter showing you have signed up for a policy may suffice but do confirm it with a PLE via the contact tab on Immi site pages.

With the english, looks to be a five year study period the're looking for to get given an exemption.

Smile thanks..

Hi Wanderer,

Thanks for taking the time to reply..forgive my ignorance, but what's a PLE?

I was thinking about signing up for a monthly policy, but like you said, I will confirm before proceeding.

As for the English proficiency, the online application said that if I studied in a secondary/tertiary institution, then, submitting the following would be good enough:
- the name and location of the institution
- the level of qualification
- an official transcript/s from the secondary and/or tertiary institution
- the number of contact hours of instruction per week delivered in English; - the number of years of continuous study

Both high school and college was full time instruction in English (Except for language classes). I believe I meet the requirement. Its not that I don't want to take the IELTS, I believe that's not necessary for me considering my background.

I am just going to scan whatever I can get my hands on and attach it to my online application.

Anything I should keep an eye open for?

Thanks again Wanderer.

Regards,
Sri

PLE is a pre or post lodgement enquiry and regarding the english, ignore DIAC site advice at your risk.

Thumbs up thanks again Wanderer...

Wanderer,

Your advice has been duly noted..I think I am going to do the IELTS and submit the result, despite asking for an exemption on the basis of my education.

Thanks for your help.
Regards.

Wanderer,

I got my visa a few days ago

I have made plans to travel on March 26th. God willing, arrive in Brisbane on 27th.

Thanks for your help. I plan to post the process I went through, if it helps others.

Sri
