Skilled Visa

Hi, I came over to Perth 10 months ago on a 12 month working holiday visa. with my girlfriend.
I am a qualifield carpenter who has been working since day one of being out here.
My girlfriend fell pregnant with twins 3 months into our stay and we both decieded it would be better for her to return home.
We thought long and hard on the best way to go as we spent alot of money coming over to get set up, so we didnt want to go back to the uk with nothing.
Luckily I have been working, but have had no luck in being sponcered.
I wanted to know if after my 12 month visa is up, could I apply for a skilled migrant visa and be able to bring my girlfriend back over with my twins, after they are safe to travel?
Any help would be great. Thanks matt

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum,

You've got double trouble hey!

Other than getting a sponsorship going, about all I can suggest for now would be Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487)

The WHV is a qualifying visa for that one but it'll depend on whether you meet the other criteria and that'll include hopefully having had your quals/skills assessed - Trades Recognition Australia - Home

If you've not done your regional specific three months work, seems as though you've left it too late to get that done for the second WHV.

About the only other options would be the cheapest type of student visa but they only allow you 20 hours work a week and then there is also an Sponsored Training visa - Students - Visas & Immigration

Have you considered trying other locations for sponsorship, work in less hospitable regions of the outback or even Alice Springs or Darwin, perhaps look up who is co-ordinating Indigenous housing work etc.

Not too sure just how you'll go getting your Gf on to your visa as a secondary applicant whilst she is in the UK but no harm in trying and DIAC will soon let you know if it's not on but a better chance of that than trying for the spouse visa, and cheaper.
You could claim compelling and compassionate circumstances if need be.
The twins would have to get Childrens visas though if you do find you're eligible for the 487, it's likely to take a while [a few years] in being processed and you'll be able to get a bridging visa.
The twins could be on that but to get your Gf and the twins back earlier they'll have to do the partner visa application.

It could get messy and I reckon a 457 will be your best bet and perhaps sitting down for a chat with an immigration agent or at least getting in contact with one.
