new sol list...when?

What a nervecracking Monday the 8'th it has been! Losing modl points myself, so now state nomination is what we are going for in a couple of months, meanwhile, and this especially relates to your in depth explanation Wanderer, does it say anywhere when the new sol list will be ready?

Yes Marianne, it says here http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...df/faq-sol.pdf
It is expected the new SOL will be announced by 30 April 2010 and will take effect 'mid 2010' (whatever it means).
Cheers
Dorota

Question

I will be veeeery surprised if it isn't. I think most professionals and engineers, especially mechanical, civil and mining will stay, some trades will go, let me guess: hairdressers and cooks
Cheers

Yes I concur with what Dorota has said re engineers still to be a highly sought professional as will most if not all the current in demand professions on the CSL.
Whether the new SOL is up and running or not by April as Immi expect is another matter but it'll not greatly affect the immigration process for most skilled people and the MODL review could yet hold out some hope for a new MODL approach that has a better managed weighting approach.

Based on

immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/faq-sol.pdf

can anyone suggest whether I shall be affected if I lodge my 175 application in end February (this year) and my job gets removed from the new SOL? I really get confused when I read Q 6 and then Q 12 (in the above mentioned document)

Thanks,
--- Tanvir

Questions 6 & 12 both refer to the new SOL not taking effect until mid Year and applications in accordance with the existing SOL will be treated as such.

What is more important is that no MODL points are now available and for occupations not on the CSL [ or depending on transitional arrangements, even if they are ] it is going to be quite a few years and perhaps more for 175 Visa processing.
Please start a new thread for further enquiries to save confusion.
