Single or Civic Union

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are in the process of applying for a partner visa on de facto grounds. We currently live in Oklahoma, USA and are applying here as an offshore application.

As part of evidence gathering, I've asked HR at my work if they had any evidence where I've written we are a couple. I did not, however they said I can change my insurance beneficiaries to my partner and then provide the form saying she is my beneficiary. (which I want to do anyway, now realising she wasn't on there).

Anyway, while filling out the form to add her it says to list my marital status and her relationship to me. I'm putting her as "partner" for relationship to me. However, where it says marital status I was wondering if I should write "Civil Union", or should I leave it as "Single" since we're not married? Or something else?

I'm not sure what immigration thoughts are when seeing the "Single" status. Any feedback/opinions/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke.

I thought of writing that. I guess because de facto is not recognised in the US, it might look like I just put that term there for the visa. I'm not sure if people write those types of relationships on marital status in the US. I'm thinking I might write single and attach a note saying that they do not recognise de facto relationships here since I wrote single. Being a case officer in the US, I'm sure they should understand this.
