Question form 80

I am an Australian with a French Husband, living in Tanzania, we finally got all the documents together and sent them off to the Oz embassy in Kenya, by Fed ex, it took 6 days!!! ( I could have driven there and back in 3 days,) to arrive and in the mean time the end of the finacial year came and the fees went up, we were contacted by Kenya regarding the 20% fee increase, and arranged the extra money to be sent. Today we were contacted regarding a form 80, now the problem is one of the questions that the case officer has asked is to submit death certs of my husbands parents? is this usual? this is a problem as yes there deaths were in France, but getting the documents will take months. Also we have been asked to fill a form 80 is it a usual required form, i have tried to find out on the internet, but come back with different answers, any info would be great........

I think details of parents is something usually asked for in application forms and so if they have asked for death certificates, there's not much you can do about it other than go about getting them.
There was a fair bit of discussion on a thread a while ago about the Form80 and seemed as though when it was asked for was a bit variable though an Immigration agent has made a comment re supplying it with an application as it'll more often than not be asked for, so again just supply it.

Wanderer,

In such cases where the death certificate is asked for, would we need to send them the original death certificate? Or will a certified/notarized copy suffice? I think a copy is what they would want, but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks.. Annikka

Yes, for documents like that it is always a certified copy as you are not likely to get an original back and any documents in other than english [ such as French loutz ] will need a certified translation before getting a certified copy.
