Are health examinations needed before lodging for a partner visa?

I've been reading so much about this and everyone says different things in regards to whether I need to get a health check done now before I lodge my visa or if I can wait until after?

I am applying for a partner visa in Australia (I am British).

All it says in the document checklist is:

Health and character documents
If you are required to undergo health examinations, you must organise your health examinations upfront before lodging a visa application and include your health identifier (HAP ID) when completing your visa application form.

How do I know if I am required to or not?

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!
