I would recommend that you go into medicare anyway and ask. All we had was an email acknowledgement of our 309 (no official letter) they contacted immigration anyway. You should also take in your partner's proof of citizenship like their passport and take in your passport too.

They will issue you a temporary medicare piece of paper on the day you go in and you will get an interim card in the mail a few weeks later.
