309 vs 100

My wife just got her partner visa granted!

Only we had applied for SC 100 and were expecting to get it as we have been married for over 3 years and have a child together. Is the only difference in visas the ability to claim Centrelink benefits and other things like Commonweatlh supported tertiary study? I don't think these will affect us, but I just want to make sure we are not missing out on something which could benefit us while we still possibly have the chance to ask our CO to reconsider.

Thanks!
