I'm working on getting a work and holiday visa (subclass 462). One of the requirements is that I have adequate health insurance. I don't even know where to begin I'm coming from US and don't currently have health insurance here. Will any health insurance do or is there something special I need? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated I'm completely in the dark right now. Thanks. Can't wait to see beautiful Australia.
You can check the health cover providers directly - the larger ones include Bupa, Medibank, NIB, etc. Most will have overseas visitor cover specific to a WHV. You could also use a service such as iSelect which compares health cover across multiple providers to help you identify which provides you what you want/need at the best price.
Make sure you get one that includes hospital cover as paying out of pocket for hospital can get very expensive if you have an accident.
Best to check individual sites too as not all are on iselect.com.au. I love Bupa and they don't sell through iselect.
