I prefer Australia but for the first time in 24 years more Australians have moved to New Zealand to live and work than the other way around. (Source bbc)

Hi,

We (me, my wife and 3 year old) moved to Sydney from Auckland few months ago; hence I think we are the best people to comment on your question.

We still love New Zealand - very beautiful, nowhere comparable to Australia (NZ is far better), and people are very friendly and laid back. I have hardly seen anyone thanking bus drivers in Australia, but in NZ it is a standard practice. The job market is very small and will get affected even with minor issues in the economy.

Australia is a big country and naturally gives more job options and better salary. Very busy life and metropolitan. Great public transport even though I know of it only about Sydney.

So long story short, if you are looking for a laid back peaceful life and already have a good bank balance, then NZ is the place to be in; otherwise definitely Aus.

Hope that helps.

Best Regards,
Joseph

depends what you want as far lifestyle vs work. I much prefer Australia because of the work opportunities and the weather - Australia wins on those fronts hands down. Heaps of job opps, and heaps of great beaches, and heaps of great bars and new people to meet. NZ is of course beautiful and picturesque, but I found it a little bit too sedate for my liking (and of course the job opp are less due to the size of the overall economy). So really depends on what your looking for - the quiet life, go NZ ... or something a bit more uptempo, then go with AU (Sydney is my fav so far!)
