De facto Visa then marriage offshore

If anyone could assist me with this question I would greatly appreciate it.

My partner and I will be applying for the De Facto Visa offshore after living together for a year. Once we apply for it and if we get it, would marrying change the type of visa?

We are waiting for the one year mark so that this past one year will be included in his permanent residence. Thus, he will only need to wait more year when we are in Australia to do a graduate diploma in teaching using fee HELP as I can't afford to pay $32,000 a year.

Also I am considering going on a holiday to Australia for a month because it's far away from Turkey. Will that mean that we will need to wait a month extra until we apply for the De Facto Visa?
Kind regards K
