hi bec,

just realised that you applied in JULY 2013 and not JULY 2014.

hmmm... you have waited close to 14 months.

your 820 should be here anytime now.

don't worry, one of the senior here, Dinkum, got the 820 just short of 14 months.

so, yours should be on the way too.

just be patient for a bit more....

if it still hasnt come in another month or so, you have the rights to ask DIBP about this, in case your application got messed up somewhere.....
demand them to give you priority! > 15 months , you have a right to know what is happening

thank you for informing me, I haven't so known how the forum works. but my problem is that I am living in a state of continuing fear here in my home country due to threats by a gang of rascals whom I once complaint to the police for robbing my, one of them was executed not because of my complaint but because of crime of killing. once they tried to abduct my son but my neighbour told immediately and I reached the place no sooner than they took away my son in their car. they want to retaliate themselves upon me.
so I am looking for an away out of this dilemma , plz advise me

hi
please, inform me what kind of application form I ask for to fill. we have not lived in refugee camps or outside our home country but we are in a dire need for migration because it is the only way to save my family from being endangered by a gang of rascals.

Hello,

I am in the same situation as iryuasada, application submitted for partner visa's (temp and permanent) 9th Oct 2013 in Melbourne, bridging visa granted and case officer assigned on the same day.
There has been no contact since, except a couple of phone calls on my part to which i was in formed that it is 'in progress' and they can't say any more...

So i have been waiting just shy of 12 months.

I am from the UK which is classed as low risk, pass all of the criteria and have completed all parts (and probably more) of the application fully, so was expecting it to be processed sooner.

So I would say that Melbourne processing time is fairly slow...

Will update when I hear anything, which will hopefully be soon!

hi Gen,

looks like my previous thought of them (DIBP) granting visas faster to those from US/ UK is definitely wrong...

i have been observing lots of 820 visa grants lately to those from these 2 countries, which is within 6 to 9 months time frame, so naturally, i have started to make my own judgement that Dibp tend to grant visas earlier to applicants of both countries regardless of the date of application.

your case seems to prove me wrong.

it perplexes me as you are from the UK, a classic low risk country, which usually suggests 820 grants fairly quickly compared to the rest of us from the asian or african continents...

as this post was a month old, i am not sure if you have received your 820 or not.

please update if you have as i am really curious.

i have not received anything. no emails no visa. and i am two weeks shy of my "1 year anniversary"

you would have passed that mark, surely something???

hmmm..... maybe they got the melbourne paper applications (only those from oct to dec 2013) all forgotten/ mixed up and started on the jan2014 online app'ications first???

i have seen a few end of dec 2013 and jan 2014 applications being granted recently from Melbourne...but not those from oct to early dec 2013 (which is the timeline of both mine and your applications).

i am worried they have skipped us and started on 2014 applications instead...

with the few places of partner visa available each financial year, i am lying if i said i am not angry. it seems that dibp is prioritising on 2014 when they have not even cleared 2013 workload!

if places have been filled up, does that mean us , waiting since 2013 have to wait till june 2015 for the places in the next round???

Hi,
I'm Alan from Taiwan.
I lodged my paper 820 application through Melbourne office as well.
I lodged on October/13, and I got my visa granted on Oct/14. It's almost a year waiting for me. I think we have quite similar timeframe and background.
Relax, I think your visa should be granted very soon.
Good luck.

I've heard from several different people that there have been major cutbacks at the immi department back in Feb/March, so all of their COs and workers will have a massively backed up workload now :/ That would also explain why the 820 estimated time frame has doubled, and why you used to get through on the phonelines after 5 minutes, and now it takes 2 hours -.-
