Adding defacto to existing 457 visa

My boyfriend and I came travelling together both on working holiday visas we have been together for a year now and lived together for most of that. He has been offered sponsorship but his company are refusing to add a defacto to his 457 visa. Basically implying that he wont be sponsered if he insists I am put on the visa. Not sure why. Am I able to apply after his sponsership has gone through for defacto and go around the company. Without jepardising his current sponsorship

Unfortunately even if you apply after his 457 has been granted, you will need a letter from the sponsoring employer, confirming that they agree to extending their 457 obligations to include you.
