My Russian GF is planning to visit me in Australia (Sydney) over the Summer, she's been to Australia before as a visitor, but she is genuinely interested to know if Russians are eligible for internships here.

Essentially she's looking for an unpaid internship for 1 month just to gain some work experience while she has holidays, and since she's staying with me there's no need for her to get paid. However when I check the work visa - it seems Russia is not on the list of approved countries who can apply for this (as I understand you need a work visa even for an internship).

Is she out of luck, or is there a specific visa she can apply for, as I understand you can't do any form of work (even unpaid) on a tourist visa?
