    Hi Claire, I simply explained the situation to DIAC via email. Told them that I've submitted my application but pending the police clearance because a request letter is needed. They responded within 4 hours with the required letter. But I must also add that different states have different response timelines, and we have to take into account that the number of applications seem to be increasing every month, so it's best not to have any expectations on how quickly DIAC will respond. Ballpark period is to give them 2 weeks. They're supposed to provide some sort of respond within the 2 week mark. Some of my email inquiries have been quick but some have been slow...so be patient and keep faith!

    As for your case, I would suggest emailing DIAC and letting them know you'd like to request for the letter. Have you had your fingerprints taken?
