When you paid for your visa, how did you pay for it? I'm hearing conflicting accounts of people paying well over the current exchange rate in USD. I'm planning on doing it my credit card on the paper application.
Thanks for your help, and no worries if you can't respond.
I'm surviving. Visa granted, but I'm stuck here until the end of this contract. My partner lost his job shortly after we applied and at that point it was looking like we might be waiting 7-8 months for the visa, so when the opportunity came - I had to take it. Now I'm stuck here for *minimum* another 1.5 months.
I'm so happy for you that you finally got through! Good luck with the long boring flight and I wish you the best for your new life with the one you love.
Thanks for the well wishes, guys. I feel like we've leapt over a big hurdle. Still a few little ones left, but that one was looking particularly daunting
Hi jmcd16,
Frankly I'm not surprised you got your visa grant because you are such a nice and helpful person on this forum. I'm really happy for you. Congrats once again and stay blessed in your new life in Oz...
I think it's shameful. Look at those onshore applications that are approved in days! If that is possible then there is no excuse for taking months/years unless there is something questionable in background that needs further testing/deeper background checking. And if there is... then they should TELL you what's going on...

I have thought that as well -- the weeding out the "fakes" thing. But honestly, being apart like this has destroyed and damaged real relationships (not to mention the mental and emotional toll it takes on each individual) -- whereas if it was fake, there'd be no real pain or suffering -- heck, it'd be easier to be apart if it were a fake relationship.
Unfortunately still no word.....but I am taking off the 5th of June, I did however find out if for whatever reason after my 3 months on my ETA if I still haven't heard a word I can apply for an extension. Only problem is I feel I've given immigration and whatever other avenue they require enough money....sometimes it's really ridiculous honestly.....but we are pretty much at their mercy and they know that unfortunately. Which also means they may try and weed out the "fakes" by taking so long some have just given up. But those of us who stick through prove our legitimacy 10 fold...that's just my opinion. How about you?
