You're welcome That is why the forum is really great, it helps people to find the information they need.

When I applied they gave me an interim paper card, I got my medicare about a week later.

Thanks! I went in and the woman said that we (my daughter and I) qualify and that we would receive a card in the mail - we'll see what happens. I never would have thought to apply unless I had read about it here - thanks again.

Take your letter of acknowledgement, ETA confirmation and passport with you when applying for the medicare card. Get your partner to come and bring their birth certificate or proof of Australian citizenship.

Wow, I'm here in australia on an eta (i wish I'd gotten a tourist visa instead) and it expires next week. We were thinking of applying for a tourist visa to get more time here while we wait on the 309/100 - it costs $290 dollars. But I'm wondering if it might make more sense to go to NZ like you are planning to do. Also, I'm surprised that I might be able to get a medicare card- that's great that you were able to get one! I'm going to try this week - thanks for the tip!

Do you have case officer DN as well? RM approved that 4mos one for Najjur the other day... No one has heard anything from DN as far as I'm aware... Not for months and months.

Just back from getting my medicare card. The woman at the office was quite confused at first and had to make some calls, but gave me the card after she had been told, that yes it was OK. She hadn't seen a 309 applicant before and wasn't satisfied at first with only having one email from DIAC to confirm our application and no receipt but accepted that was really all they had given us...

Ah yes the dreaded clock, it seems to beat us all to what we want to do. Good luck when you do go in.
