Hi Masooma, DIBP Officer is Australian, I'm embarrassed to admit. Most Australians are broad minded, but I don't know where they got this one from. Maybe a tin shed in the bush? I am older than my husband too, but he says that doesn't matter in Islam, and we love each other very much - that's what counts. My hub is from Karak District, near Peshawar. He and his family are Pathan. I have spent 9 months living in his village with his family, and they are very loving towards me and very happy with our marriage. Yep, the whole bit, toilet is a hole in the floor, no power, no TV, no shops. Sister-in-law and I go for walks to the "Women's shop". She dresses in a "shuttle cock", you know, the whole body is covered, and with a mesh thingy over the eyes. I tease her and take her photos in that. I wear a niqab and not many can tell I am Australian. Sometimes we all go for a walk together.

He obviously doesnt know his job properly then if he tried converting partner visa to defacto. Was he a pakistani or australian? My husbands family didnt attend because we just wanted to get married asap. We didnt know anything about the court marriage system. Actually we went to court to enquire about getting married and we actually did end up getting married right away. I am much older than my husband i didnt really want to do the whole family thing plus i didnt have the time too. After having spoken to each other for 18 months online we wanted to spend as much time together. If we had gone to his village we wouldnt have been left alone much, that's the pakistani extended family life, we would have had to visit each and every relative of his. My husband went to Pakistan after 6 years but only his dad and a brother knew he was going there. He is from Sialkot, 3 hours drive away from Lahore where we stayed. Hubby went to his village after i had left.

Our becoming Muslim shouldnt be of any concern to anyone we do affirm that we havent been forced in any manner to convert. I did it willingly. I love my husband very much and i knew that he couldnt marry me unless i became a muslim and so i did but willingly and happily. I actually began to like some of the teachings of Islam which i learnt from him through our relationship before our marriage. Well we are about to lodge the application. I have sent all the stuff from my side and hubby is going to lodge it in Saudi Arabia next week. So i just hope everything goes smoothly. I know there would be hurdles but we just have to be strong and have faith. Did you meet your husband here in Australia?

Sorry I missed your visitor message from yesterday Kangeroo. I don't know all the nooks and crannies here yet.
I think it is great we can communicate here in private, or on the public forum.
We don't get any communication from DIBP that's for sure.
I just don't know/can't work out how DIBP think/process visas. I saw one lady had lodged a visa application from Karachi and that was processed in less than 3 months. How can we work it out?
