Hi everyone (USA > AUS here)

Hello everyone,

Me (US) and my husband (AUS) have just started the process to bring me to Australia. We've been in America since we married in '11 but recently decided to move down under instead!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and thanks in advance for any and everything!

We just started the process too! We submitted our application just over a week ago.
Just in case you didn't know...
Make sure you get your application in by July 1st. The price is going up from $4,600 AUD to $6,800 AUD
Cheers

Welcome! I moved from CT to Melbourne in November. My husband was born here and has been here for a year. Our 7 year old daughter and I love it here. I think it is a much nicer environment to raise children. I wish we had come here sooner.

That's great Kah86k! I am glad you are loving it! Are you there on a visitors visa right now while you wait for your partner visa?
I am originally from the the east coast, North of Sydney. I took my partner back for a few months over Christmas. He just loved it and I was reminded of what a great place it is to live too!
If his visa doesn't come through in time we will apply for a tourist visa again so we can get back there again for the (US) winter.
Victoria is a great state, you picked a fabulous place to live

I'm glad we got ours in when we did, then! By the way, are you (also) from Maine?? I'm from the Greater Portland area myself.

Hey Mainegirl!
Welcome to the Forum! We are in Downeast Maine, Blue Hill. Not far from Acadia. It's great to hear from someone else in Maine going through the process! And you are just about a month ahead of us! We just submitted our application earlier in May. We are also hoping to be back for Christmas. I will be very excited to hear updates from your process.
I took my partner back to Oz last winter, from November through March. He hadn't been before and just fell in love with it. If we can make it work we'd like to live there part of the year and here part of the year.
I hear we missed a pretty rough winter.
What part of Oz are you guys moving to?
So great to meet you!
Cheers,
Skip

Hello fellow Mainer! We'll be in QLD, probably around the Townsville area (where hubby's family is from). He moved here 8 years ago to marry me, and now I'm returning the favor to be near his family (who visit us in Maine every summer for about a month). Yes, winter was rough...we seemed to be shoveling at least 3x/week...FEET at a time! I won't miss that one bit!

It'll be a warm Christmas for you this time around! We will probably move to the mid north coast of NSW to start with and then see what happens.
If we can work it out we'd love to live there for part of the year and here in the Maine summers. We'll just have to wait and see what plays out over the next year or two.
Did you go and get your medicals done already or are you waiting until they tell you to go?
We are not sure whether to go now (before the season gets crazy busy) or wait.
