Post Lodged Spouse and Tourist visa same day (spouse first)

I am a Filipina married to an Aussie, we have a 5 month old baby boy who is now an Australian citizen by descent, i received his Australian passport back in march.

I applied for Spouse then Tourist on the same day, so we can be in Australia as a family while waiting for a decision on my Spouse application since it could take 6-12 months.

Anybody here in the same situation as i am? I lodged my Spouse visa and Tourist Visa on 16/03/2012 and was confirmed received by the Australian Embassy on 19/03/2012, Received acknowledgement letter on 21/03/2012 together with an NSO and Medical Exam request (i have to do this within 28 days). I've learned that it takes 8 weeks before my Spouse visa application gets allocated to a case officer, so after im done with my medical. I wait.

The15th working day for my tourist was supposed to be last 06/04/03 but because of the long weekend my tourist application's15th working day was yesterday, and i still haven't hear from them. Fingers crossed i hear from them today.

hello maggiedixon,

How are you doin? Have you heard anything about your visa app today?

Anyway, I am also applying a tourist visa sublass 676(just for 3 months). I called the embassy March 19, 2012 for the lodgement of my visa application docs. They scheduled March 21 as pick up date but then it was already March 23 that my papers were picked up here. I got a text on March 28(6:00 pm) confirming that Australian embassy has just been received my applications documents. From then on I hear nothing yet from the embassy. I tried to send them an email but I don't know if they will reply.

I hope that you will get the result soon and so with mine as well. God Bless.

Regards,
Blue

Hi Blue,

I lodged mine thru the VIA in makati.

The processing time for Visitor visa is 15 working days to a month, which pretty much means 3-4 weeks, So for you that's March 28 + 15 working days.

I called the Call centre today and found out that they made a decision on my visitor visa on 11/04/12 (yesterday) and that my documents will be delivered tomorrow, I won't find out the decision til then.

If you want to make a follow up on your application, you can always give the call centre a ring, but they charge 32/min, i got disconnected 3 times today, had to go thru the 2 minute recording, and explain myself over and over again to 3 different agents, and the last one i spoke to wasn't the smartest, but i got my answers, so yeah.

so i suggest wait 3 weeks, then you start calling and sending emails.

But then again each application is different, so the processing times aren't the same, so for now stick with the 3 week waiting period.

I was browsing for answers yesterday and i read on one forum about this girl that lodged about 3 days after i did got her visa approved about 2 days earlier than mine.

If they make a decision on your application earlier than expected, they will try to reach you via email or text i think.

So there you have it You're now officially playing the waiting game.

Good Luck!
