Talking Another Newby

Hi all

My names Janine and I am married with three children aged 20, 15 and 9. My family and I are looking to vist Australia soon to visit where my grandmother was born in the Blue Mountains and where she lived in Toowoomba. We are also visiting Adelaide as well as some of the usual touristy things but are looking into the possibility of maybe moving out there. I am currently finishing off my Nursing Diploma and hubby is a police officer. My children are desperate to move out there but hubby has worked very hard to get to the rank he is in the police and doesnt want to throw those years away. I'm trying to glean more information as to whether rank would be taken into consideration.

Having nosed around the site everyone looks so friendly. I am looking forward to chatting and getting to know people and maybe finding out if emigrating is the way forward.

Thanks

Hello!
I'm new to this too but have been dreaming of Australia for years. My partner and I are marrying next year then kids and then in a perfect world I'd love to emigrate!
I'm very specific about it and will only move to Queensland where my family and friends are. I'm not someone who likes my own company so don't want to feel too isolated!
We went to Australia last year for 4 weeks. It was my 3rd visit but my future husbands first time. He really enjoyed and can definitely see us living there.
I think for us, the worry of leaving family and work are the biggest obstacles. We are both police officers. I'm very close to my mum who would never emigrate. QLD don't recruit UK police directly and other forces have stemmed back on overseas recruitment. I could be wrong but senior officers need to retrain as probationers and then take an accelerated promotion route but I'm under the impression that if you're a insp here you'll still be a pc there. I know their rank structure is slightly different too.
Anyway, hope you enjoy your visit!
Jen
