Advice and tips

Hello from Ireland! I am a 21 year old with an English and socio degree heading over to Perth in two weeks. I will be initially staying with relatives but I want to get settled down and move into my own place as quick as possible. I have heard its hard to get jobs initially and as my degree is not very specific I am looking for any advice and tips on getting a job and other general advice. I have heard even if you have bar or waitressing experience you still need a certificate to qualify you to do it?

Thanks guys
Aideen.
