Canadian immigration to Australia - partner visa

Hello,

My name is Caitlin. I'm a Canadian woman who has been in a common law relationship with an Australian man for the past 5 years. We recently got married, and have been in the process of a partner visa application since about June 2012.

I came accross this site and look forward to sharing experiences, gaining, advice, etc.

Thank you!

Welcome, you will not be lonely. There are heaps of Canadians in Sydney, moving here mostly for better weather and higher income :-). Government and welfare system is pretty much the same as in Canada. The only thing you will miss is queues to your GP

Thank you, Boboa!

We're moving to Brisbane (my husband's hometown). We lived there for about 5 months in 2011, spliting our time between the city and a friend's house in the country.

Australia is gorgeous, and yes, the weather is infinitely better than Canada! We are both really excited about making a new start.

Looking forward to visiting Sidney to get my Canadian fix though :-)
