Anyone waiting on a permanent visa?

Is anyone waiting on a permanent visa? How long have you been waiting for ? Do you know anyone who had their visa granted? How long did it take? Cheers

Hi there peeps!

I logged an application to sponsor my wife. I am an Aussie, she is from the states and we were married in Aus in 04. We applied in Late July. I am starting to wonder why there has not been a response. Does anybody know what length of time the first response is and whether it could be a problem in that we are both living in the U.S?

This is not the right spot for this post Dion. You should start a new thread in the Immigration and Visa forum. You should also put in your flag and explain where you applied, like Washington DC offshore etc. That said, did they take the money from your card for the application? If yes then they got it and are probably processing it. No news tends to be good news in that if there is a problem they try and tell you straight away. We waited a few weeks without any acknowledgement of our application and called the embassy and asked for an acknowledgement which they sent a few days later.

Living in the US is not a problem as such.

Permenant as in PMV (which I guess leads to a permenant visa.

18 July 2012 - Application acknowledgement from Immigration
23 July 2012 - Medicals Sent
28 Oct 2012 - Response from our email saying received Medicals and no further documents were needed.
29 Nov 2012 - Response from our email informing them of me (sponsor) going to be going to Colombia for Christmas due to nothing heard, and they say they will contact us in 2 weeks regarding the application (believe that will be the approval as there has been no interview or further information requested of us)
14 Dec 2012 - Expect approval making it 5 months and the only contact we had was receipt of application unless prompted by an email from us twice.

Good Luck, and I hope that helps in some way, even if it is to confirm that they don't always get in touch, in fact most people here would probably tell you they would never hear from them unless they are requested to conduct an interview or they want further evidence or have other requirements.
