In VIC, MEL now. Newbie from PHL.

Hello All!

I hope all is well. I am Lilac from Philippines. Been staying here in Victoria, Melbourne for about a month already. Great to know about this social site. Indeed whelpful for me as I learn a lot of things and gained information about the country across all topics. Since I am relatively new around I still need to browse and read facts about life here. I do hope this forum could help me in some way. Looking forward to non-stop exchange of messages, stories etc. Happy New Year! Thank You!

Hello Beth! Sorry just replied now. Ah yes, small world! Glen Waverley is such lovely place. Peaceul.

By March, we are also moving out here. Clayton actually is one of our eyed places as well since its a stones-throw away from my hubby's work.

When are you expecting to arrive here? Would this be your first time of going here? Thank You!

Yes first time n am scared of the cold so if our visa is granted we will come end of winter, around sept. We love the philippines but my husband needs to return cos his 5 yr visa expires next year plus the medical n hospital here is so expensive plus he hates the pollution.
Yes lots of factories etc around clayton areas. I hope to do cert.3 at TAFE so might get job in aged care...anyway thats the plan...lol Take care n keep in touch ok...Beth

I see. Your hubby is correct. Pollution, expensive hospital bills etc. Hehe. Me and my hubby pray that we will be able to stay here until we get our PR. We want to build family here as the place is perfect for us. But of course without forgetting our homeland. :-)

By the way, I will also look for job soon. Its just that our baby is still 7 months old and we dont have nanny and only me and hubby to look after her needs. My hubby is working while I do check on house needs and baby especially.

We are still plotting our agenda on how to deal with this. Because I also want to be employed as additional income for our growing family.

Do you have idea how quick people especially not citizens land job here? They say better to be in schooling first or certification? Nahhh I dont know. Probably you have something to share?

Thank You!

Hi....as you know we cannot think in peso now its $$$$ n its very expensive to live unless u have another income...no more ya yas at 2000 peso a month lol...re -job you may get part time work but very low standard type but its ok for now...most good employers wont employ temporary visa people as they like to train you their way n if they feel you will get deported for any reason then they wont take the chance....do a short course in something you feel you r good at.....then start searching n searching but you will find a job.....BUT BABY COMES FIRST...any of your hubby got family member to babysit if needed.....

Hello!

And life here is very different there. Hehe. You have a point. Employers would think twice of hiring people with temporary visas. Oh well, hopefully in time would be able to get one. I dont mind whatever type as long as its clean job.
