Newbie - Remaining Family Member Visa

I'm a 27 year old female from South Africa. My mother and only two siblings have been granted permanant residency in Australia. I don't have a relationship with my father in SA and would like to emigrate to Oz. I have holidayed there and find it a GREAT country to live in. I also have a de facto spouse. We're engaged to be married and he would like to come with me. He is highly skilled but not in anything required by the country on the points system. Which is the best route to go in terms of visa? Should I apply on my family visa or should we go the points system which we barely passed? Would it make a difference that we're not married?

Thank you for any advice you may have for me!
