Are israelis welcome in Australia ?

I am israeli. my flag here is american because there is no israeli flag on this site .

I dream about going to Australia but I am afraid . Afraid not of the country , but the people .

Israel and israelis have a very bad image in Australia . Especially after the Dubai assasination and Ben Zygier's case .

While Australia is an open and accepting society that welcomes every foreign nationality , it seems israelis are the only ones who aren't welcome there , neither as tourists not citizens . According to the aussies , israeli people do not enrich Australia , they harm it .

As far as I know , israeli tourists and israelis who live in Australia , are treated badly by the aussie locals , neither as dogs or pigs but not as humans .

considering this , should I wait until I have a non-israeli passport so I can visit Australia and be welcome ? or should I give up traveling there completely ?

Hi Tom,

I don't know where you have got your information from but it is totally incorrect. Israeli's in Australia are treated just like everyone else.

I am South African but I am Jewish and I hold an Israeli passport and I have lived in Sydney for just over 3 years and in the Eastern suburbs there are lots of Israeli's who have been living here for years.

In Sydney it doesn't matter if you are Jewish, Muslim, Christian or whatever... People who don't break the law are accepted into society regardless of their background.

Thanks,
Dylan

Thanks. I have known aussies to be kind and friendly people and very polite. I do justify their hatred towards my country 'cause we miused their alliance with us .

I thought the Ben Zygier case put israeli on the black list down under , just like muslims are in the United States .

I'm glad to know it isn't like that.

I'm not Israeli but I lived in the Eastern Surburbs of Sydney for many years and go to know the local Jewish community very well. I honestly don't know where you're getting you information from because as far as we Aussies are concerned if you come to Australia, make friends and accept us, they we sure as hell we accept you with open arms.

Just take a lot of the negative information you get about us with a grain of salt and if you want to come here come and meet us. We are not a bad bunch really!!!

Hi

I shudder as to how Australian's are portrayed.

The fact is - regardless of your heritage you will be hassled, teased, picked on and laughed at. 18th generation Australians are picked on - as are the original 60000th

You prove yourself as an Australian by being Australian, i.e. stand up for your own beliefs and assimilate that into the fabric that is Australia - you will
still be hassled, teased, picked on and laughed at - but you will pick on others too - as an Australian!

And all Australians get the joke
