Wink Greetings

Hi there.
My name is Peter and I joined the forum as my wife (whom is a Chinese Citizen) and I are applying for a 309-spousal visa, and by joining I hope to gain information regarding this process from previous applicants and their experiences. It is a long and tedious journey that we embarked on as our application was acknowledged as received by the immigration department on the 31st March 2017, but after that we heard nothing.
I was told by several people that it takes months before you are allocated a case officer, and this is for us a rather difficult period, as we are thousands of kilometres apart, the longing to be with her is heartbreaking at times.
Now I am whining and I am aware that when we started the application it was with the knowledge that it is a lengthy process, and 12 months plus did not sound so long then, but Oh boy 5 months in and it feels like an eternity.
To make matters worse, she overstayed her visitorís visa, and she is banned for a few years from entering Australia. Subsequently I travel to China but not as much as I would like to, due to work commitments.
Well members, my story in a nutshell, there are so many questions and uncertainties regarding this entire process, and I hope to find some answers and reinsurance. Thanks for accepting me as a member of the forum.

If you read through some of the posts here, you will see that many people are going through the same waiting period. Some don't even see their children during that time. Just have to wait it out like everyone else, there is no way to speed things up. Some people do get lucky and are granted their visa in a short period, but that seems to be rare. Hopefully your application is tight and there are no outstanding questions from the CO. Luckily in this day and age there is video chat, etc. to keep in regular contact.

Hi peter, share your frustration totally as my lodgement in 2016 Nov heard nothing back til Jun 2017, which I found out my online lodgement status said that it was waiting for my medical status, but I have got no notice to take a medical check yet. Anyway, til Aug, I have been contacted to submit more documents. I have got the result today, which overall it's been 12 mths!
So.. good luck and be patient.
