Hello!:)

Hi everyone,

I'm Katherine and I have a one year old daughter with my fiance Andrew.
We can't wait to start talking to you all and finding out about your experiances and hopefully make a few new friends along the way.

We are really hoping to start the visa process this year, on a skills based visa as Andrew is an electrician. We are very excited about moving to Australia and starting a whole new life over there.

We have been looking in to moving to adelaide, as it looks like it doesn't get that hot there and it would work out better for us financially. Our main reason for moving is for a better life for us and for our little girl, and now would be the best time to move as she is still very young so the move wont be as hard for her then if we were to move when she is older.

We have lots of questions to ask you all, but if you have any tips for us on anything that you yourselves have found useful we would really appreciate them. Thank you for taking the time to read this hope to speak to you soon.

Hi Katherine, welcome to the forum and already posted on your thread in the immigration section.

Just for here though, Adelaide can actually get quite warm and though prices for housing there are always a bit lower than say Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin or Brisbane you might want to consider some of the regional cities that would have good work opportunities and housing costs always lower in regions.

Mt. Gambier, Warrnambool, Geelong, Latrobe Valley [160 km. eart of Melbourne], Lakes Entrance, a further 150 km. east, Batemans Bay on south coast of NSW and all of those places have quite moderate weather.

Adelaide does also not have the most reliable water supply because of lower rainfall.
