New guy in Arizona.......

Hello everyone!

My name is Scott and I'm a Professional Firefighter living in Arizona, USA. I really want to move to Australia permanantley. Seems like it's going to cost alot of money to do, especially if I want to bring my 3 Dachshunds with me.$39 a day for 30 day's in quarantine x 3. Also seems like it's a very expensive country to live in. I'm looking forward to meeting you all here on this forum board.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Welcome to the forum and it's a bit of a quiet one with not a lot of chat but numbers are slowly building and it can only improve.

Yep Australia ain't the cheapest place to live by a long shot, our housing here is very expensive and I once saw a comparison with the US that went something like
For Oz, av house price was 6 X Annual salary, whereas US was 3 X ,
Huge difference, and yet we have so much open space but our population is really concentrated into Capital Cities is probably what does it.

Plenty of cheaper options in some lovely country areas though, with plenty of room for the hounds, not that the ol Sausage Dogs as we refer to them here do a lot of long distance running.
I just have to keep our two terrier cross hounds, now 12+ from thinking their still 2 and hairing off after kangaroos!

Anyway, see you around.

Hello Scott!

Wanted to say hi and let you know that I'm in the states at the moment as well--applied for my Visa almost two months ago to Washington D.C so if you have any questions about procedures to get stuff done in the U.S i might be able to help. Just post up your questions and I'll try to reply!

Australia might be pretty expensive for some things, but I found that it is quite similar in a lot of way to north america. I researched living costs between melbourne and toronto once and they were pretty much the same when you added it all together (housing more expensive, but telecommunications in north america are a KILLER compared to melbourne).

I LOVE sausage dogs!!!! they look so cute... i want one so i can dress it up like a hot dog... cruel? weird? maybe... but it would be so funny it would be worth it =)
