Wink Hello or gday!

Hi guys, i have just stumbled across this website following serious consideration of a change in lifestyle. So i am pretty new to this, and therefore looking to research as much as possible from people experiencing the life in australia. I'm 26, love rugby, beaches and a qualified plumber. my partner is 20 and we have recently give it some thought about moving down under. So i guess to start off with, has anyone recently moved from the uk to oz and which part of austrlia did you chose? any information is really appreciated and look forward to hearing from you.

cheers guys

Hi pegsy and welcome to the forum,
There's quite a few Brits head out to Australia, some to return and then even do a Boomerang from here, ie out and oops what have we let ourselves in for and then going back home, it might dawn on them that Oz still has much more to offer.

WA or Queensland seem to be popular but the whole eastcoast of Oz is pretty good and main issue is going somewhere that there'll be work - not all that easy with the global economic crunch.

Have you thought of taking a year or so on a Working Holiday Visa and working your way around to see where you might call home.

As a Plumber you will need to have your qualifications assessed, something you can do over there or you could also do it out here.
A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information and Trades Recognition Australia - Home will give you a start.

And then from the a-z link you'll see that you'd need to get licensed in whichever state you'll work in so working in your trade on a WHV could be a problem.
