Visa 175 to 176

Hi. I am Gina from low risk country. I 'm an accountant with IELTS average band 7.0, but writing band 6.5, applied for Visa 175 & lodged on 14 Aug 2008. Subsequently, I switched to Visa 176 after obtained approval SA State Sponsorship on 18 November 2009. Is there anybody can help me to anticipate when only my application will be allocated to a case officer? Thanks.

Regards,
Gina

Hi Gina and welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you're in the same boat as a lot of other people re priorities and not even DIAC would attempt to give people an idea of dates
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...processing.pdf summarises the current priorities.

Have you considered re-sitting the IELTS and in not letting your other scores drop, try and get 7.0 for all and than that'd put you on the CSL and likely have you a CO within a few months.

Dear Wanderer,

Thanks for your reply. Other than re-sit for IELTs, if I'm doing nothing, will the SA State Sponsorship approved help in my case? I've lodged my application for almost 18 months. Any other Non CSL Accountants with SS got their Visa recently? Just worry if they will get rid of all non CSL Accountants.

Regards,

Gina

The situation is summed up Gina with what I posted on another thread, ie.
Quote:
It is somewhat indeterminate just how much a state sponsorship will help but quite possible it would be of some help.
You may be aware that there is currently a priority system and numbers capping in place - http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...processing.pdf

If you have a non CSL occupation and get state sponsorship, that would make you what is being referred to as a Category 5 priority and some of the current Cat 5s are being processed but it is slow going and new Cat 5s could still wait a few years or more, as I say, somewhat indeterminant.
From what I've seen on other forum time situations, the non CSL SS are going to move slowly but I do not think you need to be concerned with Accountants being removed from approved occupations.
Far better for you to get that sevens IELTS score to put yourself on the CSL and you may find you would have a CO reasonably quickly and a visa approved not long after.

I have lodged my applications for almost 2 years. No news at all. Accountant, IELTS not each band 7, but overall band 7, South Australia Sponsorship obtained in Nov 2009. I heard that Visa 176 lodged before 1 July 2010 is going to be low priority ? How's SMP affects my applications? Any bidy can assist?

Gina
