Hello Charlene and welcome to the forum,
Are you coming just for holidaying or on a Working Holiday Visa and if so, why not 12 months! or even do 3 months regional work or WWOOF Australia and that way you qualify for a second WHV if you can come back later before 31.

For travel purposes, June would be a good month to start up in Queensland where the weather will be warmer still or over in Perth and then travel north from there to the northern tropical areas.
If you are looking for work on a WHV, there'll be better chances up through Queensland from June as the south in winter, just like Europe in winter is not the growing season for agriculture.
Heading north from Perth, there might be opportunities at places like Geraldton, Broome [ Pearling ] and Kununurra.
Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks near Darwin are also best to see after the wet season which finishes nominally in April.
It is quite warm in the north, about 30C or more even in winter and best not to be there after end of September as the weather can start to get more uncomfortable then and a good time to think of the southern parts with Spring and warmer weather.

Have a read of some of the older travel section threads as there're many about travel and different places, different and cheap means of travel etc. but stick with north from June and then head south in September and you'll get best weather.

If you've not yet booked airfares and looking for a cheap ones, consider looking for cheap flights between France and Kuala Lumpur, maybe even a cheap flight across to Stansted in UK as Welcome to AirAsia.com, The World's Best Low-Cost Airline have cheap flights Stansted to KL and KL to either Perth Melbourne or the Gold Coast which is close to Brisbane.

Edit: If you want to see something of the Australian outdoors, http://www.australiangeographic.com....dex=0&gid=5709 will give you an indication.
