Hi
My names mark, im coming over to oz in Oct/Nov backpacking. Im 27 from Essex and coming over on my own. I cant wait to head for the sun and make some new friends. Can someone help me with places to stay and work as i'll be coming over on a WHV. Im currently in the building trade taping (drywall) and can plaster. i dont mind doing friut picking as im used to doing physical work.
Im nervous a bit but cant wait as ive finally got the chance to do something that ive always wanted to do.
Anyone else travelling around Oct/Nov thats in the same boat?
any info would help
thanks mark

Hi mark and hope you enjoy Oz, and just a couple of golden rules to remember that'll help that:
. Sydney is expensive and if you want to be there for NYE start looking to book accommodation in June.
. The top end is best enjoyed between about May/June to September October, best month about June while all is green and lush with plenty of water in waterfalls after the wet season but able then to get into them.

Have a look in the travel section and you might find a couple of other travellers posts and some good links to cheap travelling, but you could find the plane is half full with backpackers.
Harvest Trail - Harvest jobs - Australian JobSearch will give you a good idea on where work is and Queensland is good in October/November and you could do a bit up on Atherton Tablelands, see Cairns region and GBR before heading south, Burdekin Irrigation scheme inland from Ayr and then Bundaberg region all being good areas to get work as you will further south heading into Summer.
